New Moon in Capricorn: the Next Best Step

Happy New Moon in Capricorn!

Today at 6:57 AM EST we have the New Moon in Capricorn at 20°. This New Moon brings a fresh perspective on how we can move forward toward our dreams and goals by honoring our emotions and overall wellness. To get to where we are striving, we must lighten our load, get clear on where we are heading, and take time to tune in to our body and energy as the compass they are. Use the pressure to move forward while honoring your inner reserves. There’s no rush.

Below, I’m sharing the energy of this New Moon as well as the Moon Journal Prompts to help you harness this powerful energy. New Moons are about new beginnings, fresh starts, and gaining clarity for the next two weeks.

This New Moon is asking us to shoot our shot with enough flexibility to allow our vision to grow from inspiration and experience.

Sun + Moon in Capricorn square North Node in Aries:

  • With the Sun and Moon both coming into tense contact with the North Node, we’ve reached a testing ground that will redirect/correct our path forward. The North Node in Aries tells us we must shed the people-pleasing habits and assert our individualism. Being more of who you are and surrounding yourself with more of what you need to feel supported in who you innately are is not a threat to other individuals. Read that again.

Sun + Moon in Capricorn trine Uranus Rx in Taurus:

  • Uranus likes to shake things up to bring forth necessary change. It’s not a subtle change either, but the plus side is since Uranus is retrograde and almost direct, this is something we’ve been working with and through for some time. With the Sun and Moon connecting with Uranus, we can see ourselves taking a new unconventional approach.

Mercury in Sagittarius square Neptune (exact on Jan. 8):

  • Now that Mercury is direct it meets up with Neptune again (it made this aspect on December 27). Mercury's meeting with Neptune tends to blur the lines of what’s true and what’s fiction. Since this is a second pass, we can use the evidence we collected to begin to piece things together as these planets continue to separate. Discernment and facts will always help you navigate through the fog. Like the Hermit in Tarot, use your lantern to see the next steps— you don’t have to see the full picture yet.

Venus in Sagittarius trine Chiron in Aries:

  • There’s healing available within your relationships. Venus in Sagittarius wants to explore new horizons and Chiron in Aries wants you to face what hurts to do just that. Tend to the wounds that come up around identity and your self-image. Take a look at your core values and evaluate what doesn’t align with who you innately are or what you see reflected in the mirror.

Mars in Capricorn trine Jupiter in Taurus:

  • Mars is exalted in Capricorn which means there’s extra support here for taking aligned action and moving forward. When Mars meets with Jupiter, action meets opportunities. The drive and judgment are available to take the necessary steps to make big changes in your inner resources— how you obtain resources, how you expend your energy, and how you seek opportunities. As The Hood Healer says, “There’s no traffic in your lane.” It’s a favorable aspect if you heed the call.

Human Design Gate:

With the Moon in Gate 54, the Gate of Ambition/ The Marrying Maiden, we are dealing with the energy of drive and ambition. With this Gate found in the Root Center, the seat of the adrenal glands and pressure, it works hard to make dreams come true-- trying to relieve the pressure. The issue is the “working hard”. With no clear aim, it creates blind ambition leading to enslavement, burn-out, manipulation, and greed. Think adrenal fatigue. The adrenal glands are in control of the release of hormones that help regulate our metabolism and blood pressure as well as respond to stress.

This Gate also holds an enlightening energy that when recognized for its gift holds the unlimited potential to rise in pursuit of its dream.

In “Understanding Human Design” by Karen Curry Parker, she states, “The dreams of Gate 54, when supported and recognized, can go into the realm of unlimited possibility. Of course, even with these kinds of dreams, it must be recognized or else they are just dreams. With recognition, Gate 54 can do big things… This is the chief dreamer of any operation.”

Noticing how this has played out in a family member’s life, this Gate’s energy to tirelessly work until exhaustion is what Society idealizes but it wears the body down, especially when the person with this energy is not properly recognized for their gift and vision. Being recognized for how much you can work is not proper recognition. Proper recognition of this Gate is focused on the dreams you want to realize and receiving the support to manifest them. Through that recognition, a transformation occurs for that person and all involved benefit.

Here are a few posts I came across that embody the energy of this lunar phase:

Checking In With The Collective Energy

When I come up with the questions for the Moon Journal Prompts, I take into account the energy of the planets as well as the Collective energy via Oracle cards or Tarot cards.

For this lunation, I decided to use the Sacred Destiny Oracle Deck and The Spells Deck.

Sacred Destiny Oracle Deck

Forgiveness:

It is human to want. to hold on to the past-- our memories, experiences, and relationships. However, there can be times when we are carrying so much of the past that we can’t fully see the present... Just because you had a pattern or a recurring challenge in the past, doesn’t mean it needs to recur in the future.

The key is to be willing and ready to simply and cleanly let go of the hold that the past has on you.”

One of the most powerful lessons we can learn is forgiveness. While it is helpful to forgive others its even more important to forgive ourselves for what we did or didn’t do, all the times we didn’t trust our vision/intuition, and any other forms of betrayal or mistrust.

The Spells Deck:

Divine Spirit:

“Magical tools are aids for harnessing energy, but without intention and Divine Spirit, they are powerless.”

While the sign of Capricorn is an Earth sign that focuses on the material realm, the real wisdom this sign is learning is to all the mundane and the physical to reveal what happens behind the scenes. Having physical items to help you ground into reality is necessary for our soul’s journey. What we can forget is that we are a spirit having a human experience and not the other way around. The connection we have with the spirit realm is what allows us to stay hopeful and to see the potential of our reality. If we focus too much on the physical aspects of life meaning only what we see in front of us we can easily lose sight of what is possible to bring into reality.

Moon journal prompts

Use these prompts to journal with or meditate on. If you’re like me, retreating to a quiet space in your home, putting on some background music like solfeggio frequencies or my new favorite, “Faith’s Hymn” by Beautiful Chorus, and lighting a candle or incense helps calm the mind and allows you to tune in to what’s trying to get your attention. (I link my favorite playlists from Apple Music so you can tune in).

  • What dreams are you working to bring into reality?

  • What actions do you need to take to show yourself and the Universe that you and ready to move toward your dreams? (from “Understanding Human Design”)

  • What habits/patterns are hindering you from being in the present moment?

  • What do you need to forgive yourself for? Write a note to yourself.

Take care,
