EPISODE# 5: 90 Days of My Walking Practice!

Introduction.

Thank you for joining me for another episode of ASPIRE. CREATE. INSPIRE. Today’s episode is a bit celebratory because I have officially made 90 days of my walking practice. Three months ago, I decided I was going to walk every day, no matter the weather, no matter the time—well, before it’s too dark out— and for at least 10 minutes a day I was going to walk. It may seem like an easy feat but as I’ll share with you it’s actually a huge deal. This practice is so simple and so significant to me for so many reasons. My reason to begin walking is actually very multi-layered.

SOUNDBITE//QUOTE:

I intend to keep this promise to myself. Standing by what I say I'm going to do is essential to my self-care and internal processing. This feels more and more important these days than anything. No more self-abandonment in the name of I'm too busy, too tired, too comfortable to move, too whatever.” - Alex Elle’s newsletter

It’s truly a skill to notice how the instincts you developed as a child are still present and how they can hinder you from actually enjoying the moment like a child. “

So much beauty that can be captured to enjoy before facing the day. Finding home within your body, your environment, and with others. “

Walking for pleasure is different from walking because you have to.”

Going for daily walks is teaching me how to delegate.”

There are a lot of restrictions and limitations right now for a plethora of reasons and that’s caused a feeling of wanting to crawl out of my skin, to run away, and that’s not something I can do nor really want to do.”

…there’s a need for acceptance of who he is and how he expresses himself and a need to provide the necessary safe space to do that.”

We decided years ago that we would not repeat that kind of parenting so we’ve had to feel the discomfort of what we feel as familiar and the discomfort of moving through that familiar pain to get through the threshold to a new dynamic of family and of home.”

While I’m the only one in my household who understands Astrology, I was still able to work with my family to hold space for my son and provide loving and firm boundaries.”

“I walk to save the life I desire.”

Walking for me is a physical act of moving even when other things in my life may not be moving as I wished. I can only control myself and my actions. If I was wanted movement, I can move myself.
