Is It Worth It?: Using Venus RX To Gain Clarity Around What We Invest In At Home

If you’ve been following me on Instagram for some time now, you know I’m a student of Astrology. I love sharing with my audience all that I’ve learned so far and helping them understand the collective energy. I’ve incorporated journal prompts for all who are interested to use them to reflect on how the energy may show up in their individual lives internally and through the relationships they have with others.

This particular post is just like that, but I felt it deserved a blog post versus just a IG post because I want to dig into it a bit deeper. Plus, I saw this as a great source for those looking to refresh their spaces or invest in a bigger interior design project.

So, what is Venus Retrograde?

Let’s start with the basics. Venus is the planet that rules over the zodiac signs Taurus and Libra. It’s the planet of love, beauty, relationships of all kinds (the way we relate to people, places and things), harmony, fairness, what we value, our self-worth and self-esteem. When a planet is “retrograde”, it appears to slow down and reverse it’s regular motion. During this period, we can use this time to things with the prefix “re-“ like review, revise, reconcile, revisit, renegotiate, reflect, redetermine, etc. mixing the themes of Venus and the zodiac sign the planet is currently in.

This particular Venus retrograde is in the sign of Capricorn. What does Capricorn relate to? Capricorn is the GOAT, the one who will keep striving for the highest possible outcome. Capricorn is not just the Boss of things. Capricorn is the sign of steady and consistent movement. Capricorn thrives on things that are long-term so that means it needs to know for sure that what they want to commit to will last. They want to know it will be worth the hard work and will allow them to reap rewards.

People make Capricorn out to be this cold, money and power hungry sign but that’s just because business in society is seen as a machine that churns non-stop to reach the top but that’s not at all how a sustainable business thrives. That’s not how a human can thrive. That’s survival mode.

Capricorns love and honor having copious amounts of money saved up and some set aside because they like to have options and back-up plans.  They love to be able to contribute to the long haul, committing to the climb up the mountain, (they are the GOAT for a reason). They are ready to initiate (because of that Cardinal energy) and to build something that can stand the tests of time, to be able to leave a legacy behind that brings about substantial recognition and regard.

With that in mind, can you see how the Venus retrograde in Capricorn will play out?

We’ll be reviewing what and who we are committing to and figuring out why. What is the long-term goal? Is it worth your time and energy? How can you conserve your resources (time, energy, money) to maximize your efficiency? What do you truly value? is always a Venus-related question.

If you value peace and harmony, that means you must release anything that causes chaos. That can be remedied with clearly communicated and demonstrated boundaries. Be flexible and adaptable like a rooted tree that sways with the wind.

If you value beauty, you must define what that looks and feels like and remove anything that doesn’t embrace that. That can be remedied by investing in things that bring you joy and reviewing what doesn’t.

If there’s something or someone that doesn’t fit the bill, I wouldn’t say throw it or them away, at least not immediately. I’d say spend some time with that person or thing and see if you can rekindle the initial attraction. If there is no longer a connection then its probably time to part ways. But it’s best to know you have multiple options and ways to see the situation at hand. Take time to see the situation clearly from all angles. Maybe you just need a new perspective.

Using Venus Retrograde to get clear on our values

I’d like to share a personal observation. Leading up to the start of this Venus retrograde, I was paying attention to how it was showing up in my life. If you look at your birth chart, you can see where Capricorn falls and then see the themes that “house” talks about. I know based on my birth chart that it will be themes related to the 8th House, the house of other people’s resources (time, energy, money), intimacy, transformation, rebirth, letting go, resentment, inheritance, debts, and taxes just to name a few meanings.

I have seen so far that I’m being asked to let go of value systems my family has held on to for decades, possibly for many generations which is something that Capricorn relates to as well as longevity. As I make changes and improvements in my life for the better of my overall health and wellness (mind, body and spirit), I have to review what gets to stay and what needs to be released.

“Relationships we have with others are mirrors and therefore they show us what we want and don’t want” Click to Tweet this.

We feel those urges to change and it’s up to us to decide if we are willing to commit to the process or to allow things to run their course and eventually push us to change. So, for example, I value my alone time because I need it to reenergize and rest. What can I do to make sure I honor those values? I take breaks from social media, I take time to journal, I retreat to my bedroom for some quiet time and I let my family know when I need some time to myself, especially now with an infant at home. If I don’t honor these values, I will become resentful, agitated, and just no fun to be around. These are core values as well as survival needs for me. These activities help me connect with myself and help me interact in ways that are healthy.

[ADVICE] How can we integrate our core values with what we want and need?

Venus has been in Capricorn since November 5th and will be there until March 6, 2022. The retrograde period is from December 19th until January 29th. Try to hold off until January 29th when Venus moves direct and you’ll have more clarity about big decisions as it makes its way through the rest of Capricorn if you use these 3 months to your advantage.

It’s best to not commit but rather see how things play out because things will continue to come to your attention for you to gain further clarity. Don’t rush to make big purchases either during this time especially if you logistically can’t afford to.

OVERVIEW/RECAP OF WHAT TO FOCUS ON:

  • personal values

  • long-term goals

  • Relationship with money and material possessions

  • Questioning what’s worth your time

  • Long-term investments of your time: are these the right fit or are these things you are conditioned to believe you need in order to check a box of worthiness?

  • Self-sabotage from having contradicting motives and values

  • Comforts, values, harmony, fairness, relationships on the material real. Capricorn energy is ready to initiate (Cardinal sign energy) to build something that can stand the tests of time, to be able to leave a legacy behind worth substantial recognition and regard.

This Venus RX and interior design: consider what/how you value on the items in your home. Think about why you value them and if you are honoring your values with proper maintenance to ensure their suggested life span.

QUESTIONS TO REFLECT ON:

  • What is worth committing to and do you have the bandwidth to invest in it?

  • Do you want to invest your time or do you feel obligated?

  • What’s your relationship with your material possessions ie your furniture at home?

  • Are you willing and able to commit to taking on a transformation that will change your environment and therefore your viewpoint?

  • Are you willing and able to commit to the maintenance necessary for the things you want to surround with? Ie more plants, a new sofa, a new appliances.

  • How will you merge your core values with the items you have and/or plan to purchase?

  • What is of worth to you and how have you determined that?

  • Are these things you value something you picked up from your family growing up? Do you agree, at your core, with this or is it just something familiar?

  • What visions of home do you see stem from your childhood home and upbringing?

  • What visions of home do you see are different from your childhood?

  • How do you feel about the choices you’ve made so far in your home?
